Intro

For London Fashion Week, I was responsible for leading the front-end team to optimize the platform’s performance and implement new page types. The main challenge was to develop a live scheduled stream of pre-recorded content, that allowed event administrators to organise the broadcasts with a curation of private YouTube videos.

Challenges & Outcome

Other key elements of the project included maintaining high performance during peak user activity and ensuring the platform could be updated at a moment’s notice. This included being live tech support during the event itself to address any issues quickly, and ensure a seamless experience.

The London Fashion Week platform was able to handle the large traffic volumes and was an overall success. The new page designs and user interface were well-received, reflecting the event’s high-fashion brand.

Conclusion

This project differed from the quick turnaround briefs of fast moving campaigns, and required more thoughtful long term solutions that supported the brand aesthetic. By using React/NextJS to focus on optimisation and considered implementation of new site features, we were able to ensure the product met the demands of both the client and its' users.
